Ion–conducting ceramic membranes, such as mixed oxygen ionic and electronic conducting (MIEC) membranes proton–electron (MPEC) have the potential for absolute selectivity specific gases at high temperatures. By utilizing these in membrane reactors, it is possible to combine reaction separation processes into one unit, leading a reduction by–product formation enabling use of thermal effects achieve efficient sustainable chemical production. As result, reactors show great promise production various chemicals fuels. This paper provides an overview recent developments dense catalytic their review covers different types principles, advantages, disadvantages, key issues. The also discusses configuration design reactors. Finally, offers insights challenges scaling up from experimental stages practical applications.
